| 8 oz penne pasta | 1 tbsp olive oil | |
| 2 tbsp butter | 1/2 finely chopped small onion | |
| 1 clove minced garlic | 1/4 cup vodka | |
| 1/4 cup tomato paste (tube is best) | 3/4 cup heavy cream | |
| Salt and pepper to taste | Fresh basil, sliced thin (optional) | |
| Freshly grated parmesan cheese (optional) | 4 pack of sliced sausages (optional, spicy is better) |
| Method | Step 1 Cook pasta in the background. |
| Step 2 Add oil and saute sausages. | |
| Step 3 Remove sausages but keep any oils. Add butter and oil over medium heat and saute onion for 5 minutes or until softened. | |
| Step 4 Stir in the garlic and cook for 30 seconds. | |
| Step 5 Add vodka and let the sauce bubble for 30 seconds. | |
| Step 6 Stir in the cream and reduce heat to medium-low. Let sauce thicken. | |
| Step 7 Season with salt & pepper as needed. Stir in the fresh basil if using. Add pasta and parmesan. |
